Ghana Renewable Energy Fair

The Renewable Energy (RE) Act (Act 832) was enacted in 2011 to provide for the utilisation, sustainability and adequate supply of renewable energy for electricity and heat generation and for related matters. The Feed-in-tariff, Renewable Energy Purchase Obligation and Open Access to the Grid are enshrined in the Act to stimulate massive investment in the renewable energy sector.

The Energy Commission initiated the annual Ghana Renewable Energy Fair (Conference and Exhibition) in 2015 and has successfully organised two events to date. The Ghana Renewable Energy Fair is an annual Fair which aims at creating a platform for stakeholders in the renewable energy industry for the promotion of renewable energy technologies and innovation

The 1st Ghana Renewable Energy Fair was organised in November 2015 in collaboration with The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce’s (AHK’s) West African Clean Energy and Environment (WACEE) International Conference and Exhibition in Accra, attracting, 1,906 participants and 33 exhibitors. The theme was ‘Renewable Energy for Sustainable Development’

The 2nd Ghana Renewable Energy Fair was held in August 2016 in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre at Ashesi University. It attracted over 2,000 persons with 58 companies exhibiting renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and products such as solar PV systems, improved cookstoves, clean cooking fuels, solar water heaters, LED products, etc. The theme was ‘Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency: Accelerating Energy Access and Security’.

The 3rd Ghana Renewable Energy Fair which comes off from the 10 – 12th of October at the Accra International Conference Center seeks to build on the successes of the first two Fairs and continue to increase awareness on the benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and its potential to contribute to social and economic development.
