NBC 2017 Finalized with Matching Day

NBC 2017 Finalized with Matching Day

Last week Friday, 15 September, the 2017 edition of the New Business Challenge was officially closed with the ‘Matching Day’ at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Accra. This was the final event after the NBC finals. The Matching Day is meant for evaluation, feedback and final wrap up of the whole program. The students and representatives from the Embassy and the participating companies were present. This year’s business cases were presented by Cargill, Closing the Loop, Delft Imaging Systems, NileDutch and People’s Pension Trust.

The students presented again on their solutions, and company representatives gave their feedback an commented on the progress of the implementation of the solutions. Possible opportunities for the students with the companies, such as internships, job opportunities, and other career steps were discussed as well. As a follow-up, a career event for all NBC alumni (so also those of previous editions), will be organized early 2018.

It was a fun time when students also had the chance to give general impressions of the NBC experience, give constructive feedback on the general program and processes, as well as come together as a group again. In attendance was the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Ghana, Mr. Ron Strikker, who spoke about the trade agenda between Ghana and the Netherlands, the business relations between the two countries and specifically encouraged the students to make use of such opportunities to widen their network, gain exposure, especially building strong companies of their own that will solve pertinent issues within the country and the world.

As the saying goes, ‘everything that has a beginning, surely has an end’. A big thank you to all our sponsors, partners, participating companies and lastly, to all the participating students. It was fun, exposing, educative, challenging but definitely worth the experience. See you in 2018!
