AGI Letter Of Protest Towards New Straight VAT Levy Regime

Dear Members,

GNBCC fully supports AGI's letter of protest concerning the introduction of the straight VAT levy regime in last midyear’s budget. With this straight Levy regime manufacturers can only claim 12,5% leaving 5% as cost burden which will be passed on through the chain. We don’t think this new extra tax burden will bring Ghana closer to its ambition to become better ranked as Mauritius in the ease of doing business listing of the World Bank or that this measure adds to Ghana's status as a business friendly country. Instead of increasing the amount of tax payers as promised, the existing taxpayers, foremost the business community, is paying more taxes.

GNBCC supports the positive recommendation of the AGI towards the honourable Minister of Finance
