Successful Joint Cocktail with the GSABC

Successful Joint Cocktail with the GSABC

Yesterday, the 1st  Joint Cocktail with the Ghana South Africa Business Chamber (GSABC) was held at the Goldfields Offices in Airport Residential. With an attendance of over 200 people of which at least half came from GNBCC, the event was very successful. The official opening speeches were done by GSABC’s Vice Chairman Mrs. Opeibea Omaboe, GNBCC’s General Manager Tjalling Wiarda and the Dutch Ambassador Mr. Ron Strikker.

In his word of welcome, Mr. Tjalling Wiarda mentioned that this joint event celebrated the business history and co-operation between Holland, South Africa and Ghana which goes back to the 16th century. Between 2008 and 2017 The Netherlands invested 76,3 billion Euro in total into the different countries of the African continent of which the large share of the total Foreign Direct Investments went to South Africa, approx. 20,3 billion Euro or 26,5%. About 13 billion (or 17,2%) went to Number 2, Nigeria and Ghana received 2,35 billion Euro. These figures illustrated the importance of the mutual business relations.

Last night ’s organization was in the able hands of Bruce Addo of the GSABC and GNBCC’s Ophelia Attah who both did a splendid job. GNBCC especially thanks their Members KLM, Red Sea Housing Services, Vivo Energy, Wapic Insurance and Consolidated Shipping Agencies for their sponsoring. At the end of the evening, a raffle was held in which the sponsors gave away prices. The main price, a KLM airline ticket, was handed over to Dave Norval of Oregon Ghana Ltd, a mining service company.

GNBCC received a lot of positive feedback from its Members and will certainly start a new tradition together with the GSABC to make this a yearly event!
