Memphis Depay Releases Visuals To New Song ‘Akwaaba’ Shot In Ghana

Olympique Lyon forward Memphis Depay has released visuals to a new song Akwaaba.

The video was shot during his visit to Ghana in June 2018.

Although a player for the Netherlands national team, Depay felt the need to give back to the country where his father came from and reconnect with his roots.

Akwaaba is a collaborative effort with Rotterdam rapper Winne with support from Nana Fofie.

The proceeds of the song are expected to go to The Genesis foundation – in formation – from Memphis.

For the clip, the men traveled together with videomakers ‘Since 88’ to the African country. They visited projects for blind and deaf children and invested in sports and education of these children through donations and training.

In the clip of ‘Akwaaba’ you see a Ghanaian blind children’s choir. A Dutch children’s choir also contributed to the Memphis initiative.
