1st Hortifresh Trade Mission: 11- 15 March, 2019

This week, a delegation of various Dutch companies visited Ghana for the 1st Hortifresh Trade Mission focusing on (improved) inputs and soil enhancement. The 10 visiting companies offered solutions ranging from (biological) fertilizer, biological crop protection, substrates, soil analysis, and agricultural services. The Trade Mission was organized by NABC and Inclsve as part of the HortiFresh Program, with the support of GNBCC.

Hortifresh is a 3-year programme, the successor of GhanaVeg, financed by the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Accra and aims for commercial fruit and vegetable sector development in Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire. It aims for a competitive and innovative high-value fruit and vegetable sector and the sustainable and inclusive growth of this sector.

The trade mission kicked-off at the Netherlands Embassy with a warm welcome by Hon. Ambassador Ron Strikker. The morning was filled with insightful presentations from the Hortifresh team (Sheila Assibey-Yeboah & Irene Koomen), the Dutch Agricultural Counsellor to West- Africa (Bram Witts) and the Ghana Investments Promotion Centre (GIPC). The delegation together with Mr. Bram Witts visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Food on a courtesy call on Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Hon. George Oduro Boahen.

The delegation had a busy week while visiting several companies during the week (a few who are GNBCC Members), attending an Agricultural Input Seminar with Ghanaian agri-input companies, a networking cocktail hosted by the Netherlands Embassy and a successful B2B Matchmaking. The trade mission was concluded yesterday with an engaging Hortifresh Business Platform Meeting. The platform meeting focused on exploring opportunities in the Ghanaian Horticulture Sector while emphasizing the role of the Dutch private sector.

GNBCC would like to thank the organizing team (NABC, Hortifresh and Inclsve) for the successful collaboration and the warm welcome of the delegation.
