NBC Alumini Reunion Dinner

28-05-2021

Building strong professional networks has never been more essential. It is exciting to see young professionals explore business relationships and opportunities. Aside from competing in teams to provide innovative and sustainable solutions to real-life business cases, the New Business Challenge (NBC) provides all participants the perfect platform to build solid and lasting relationships.

These relationships were evident last week Thursday, during the maiden edition  of the NBC Alumni Reunion Dinner. The dinner was organized at the residence of the Netherlands Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Ron Strikker.   It was a great avenue to re-connect with NBC Alumni and company representatives, and highlight NBC experiences. It was well attended by over thirty  NBC alumni (from 2014 to 2019 editions), 10 participating company representatives, personnel from the Netherlands Embassy and GNBCC’s General Manager, Tjalling Wiarda.

The evening began with a brief introduction of the 2021 edition of the New Business Challenge, entrusting alumni and company representatives to share within their networks.  Following on from that, a welcome address was delivered by H.E Ron Strikker, Netherlands Ambassador to Ghana; he shared stories of the NBC from the perspective Netherlands Embassy in Ghana. The Netherlands Embassy has been very supportive of the NBC and does not hesitate to offer assistance and support when required. The Ambassador was pleased to see the enthusiasm of alumni and to hear stories about the lasting impact of the New Business Challenge in their lives.

The NBC is making its mark! Participating companies indicated that they received innovative and sustainable ideas to address their business cases. After participating in the NBC, many alumni have had the opportunity to work on their solutions with their respective companies and secured job and internship opportunities.

The event was very enjoyable, as usual NBC Alumni did not hesitate to make their presence felt. All attendees were impressed by MC Extraordinaire, Crystil Adomako-Mensah, a 2019 alumni of the New Business Challenge. She captivated attendees with her ‘on-point’ coordination skills and provided alumni with the platform to not only share their individual NBC stories but advertise their individual brands.

Oh and there was a challenge! So much time has passed and so much has changed but some things remain the same, it was no surprise to see alumni switch to their competitive spirits and prove who knew the most about the NBC. The session well-coordinated by Ekow Tachie Menson (alumnus 2017) and Nana Yaa Anim (alumnus 2019).

It’s reassuring to see the long lasting impact of the New Business Challenge. Overall, the Alumni Reunion Dinner was well organized and really appreciated by attendees. A big thank you to all alumni, companies and other stakeholders who attended this reunion dinner. Special thanks to HE Ron sticker for hosting this event.
