Last night’s Summer Cocktail

Yesterday evening GNBCC held its 3rd Member Cocktail Event sponsored by the Royal Netherlands Embassy and held at our Ambassador’s Residence with almost 70 Members attending.

It was a special evening because the Embassy held its yearly award ceremony honouring the entrepreneur of the year. Normally for 2020 it was due in  November last year (official day was Friday the  20th of November 2020) but unfortunately the November Tema Cocktail was cancelled due to the Covid. The award was presented by our Ambassador Ron Strikker to Mrs Brenda Bijen; Brenda is the Co-founder and Managing Director of Think! Data Services. She established the Ghanaian company in 2012, Think Data offers high-end data collection and information management solutions to the West African market. They are a full-service provider that offers solutions incl. software, hardware and required services to assist their customers with professionalizing data driven processes. In 2019, Brenda established Think! Data Services Nigeria Limited with the aim to offer high-end data solutions to the Nigerian market and to be able to better serve existing Nigerian customers. 2020 was a difficult year for Brenda because she came down with Covid but continued and overcame this nasty disease ; even more reason to support her with the Entrepreneur of the year award.

That same evening GNBCC”s General Manager Tjalling Wiarda honoured two GNBCC Board Members who are stepping  down from the Board after 4 years Board Membership (at AGM in September). On the 6th of July 2017 both Mr Dick van Nieuwenhuyzen, General Manager KLM-Air France as well as Adelaide Benneh Prempeh, founder and managing partner of B&P Associates (law firm which offers legal advice to domestic and international investors) were elected at the AGM which was held at the African Regent Hotel.  After 2 years Adelaide became our first female Chair in GNBCC’s history when she took over the helm of Kofi Boateng. Both have been pro-active  and very much appreciated Board Members which helped guiding the GNBCC ship through the rough Covid sea.

Finally we as GNBCC honoured our Ambassador Ron Strikker; he has been an outspoken friend and ally of GNBCC these past 5 years after he was appointed as Ambassador in Ghana back in 2016. Ambassador Strikker used every occasion to promote our Business Council . Our Chair Adelaide heralded him in a thank you speech that he  has been of inestimable value for GNBCC. We are sorry to see ‘our’ Ambassador leave and wish him a wonderful time returning home.
