November Tema Cocktail sponsored by Agrona & Comexas

On the evening of the 1st match of Ghana, GNBCC held its annual Tema Cocktail at the rooftop of the office building of Agrona and Comexas, the sponsors of the evening.

As always, it was very well organised with a great number of our Tema based Members and invitees of Agrona and Comexas.

A memorable point of the beginning of the evening before the opening was when a roar was heard all over Tema as indication that Ghana had scored against Portugal.

The official part was opened by a word of welcome by  Rogier Streefkerk, GM of Agrona also on behalf of Comexas, followed by GNBCC's Tjalling Wiarda.

Ambassador Jeroen Verheul made a speech starting  with the sad fact that Ghana had just lost the match against Portugal with 3-2 after a thrilling second half. He then talked about  the current economic challenges, the budget , the IMF etc. He also spoke about what the Embassy is doing concerning cocoa and horticulture in Ghana.

He finished by giving out the entrepreneur of the year award, which is an annual award giving out by the embassy to the entrepreneur of the year. For 2022, the Ambassador awarded the price to Kees Veldhuijzen of Iribov West Africa.

Iribov West Africa is part of the Iribov group in The Netherlands. The company is located in Sogakope in the Volta Region of Ghana and has a tissue culture laboratory (D.invitrolabs Ghana Ltd) and nursery operation (Iribov Ghana Ltd.) and employs over 100 people.  Their laboratory has a capacity to produce 10 million plants per year and they have an advanced nursery of 5.000 m2. The company started operation in 2005 to produce pineapple MD2 suckers for farmers in Ghana in a project supported by the World Bank.

Mr. Kees Veldhuijzen thanked his staff members  because without them there would be no succes for Iribov.

After that, the cocktail continued.

It was as always a very good evening, thank you Agrona and Comexas !!
