Opening 8th Fruit & Vegetable Fair

Yesterday morning was the official opening ceremony of the 8th Fruit & Vegetable Fair which is currently being held at the Kwame Nkrumah Park & Mausoleum until tomorrow 15 hrs.

The ceremony was opened by a word of welcome from the Horticulture Business Platform (HBP) national coordinator and GNBCC colleague Barnabas Apom. After his enthusiastic introduction several speakers offered their messages of solidarity of organisations such as IDH, Ghana Vegetables, Agric Ministry  and KNOX Consulting . The Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands , Mrs Wendy van Meel was the main speaker who offered her solidarity message . Tjalling Wiarda, Head of GNBCC spoke the following words :

‘ We as GNBCC have initiated the Horticulture Business Platform as a platform which unites all stakeholders ranging from horticulture business, individual farmers, distributers and NGO’s to create a platform where they can meet, exchange information , do business, learn, produce more efficiently and foremost improve their situation. This is to come to the overall objective of increasing local production and sales of horticulture products in Ghana. In that sense less needs for imports and maybe even exports in the future.

This fruit and vegetable fair is one way to unite, showcase, learn, sell and meet each other. GNBCC congratulates HBP and its partner IDH with this 8th edition which in my view is already a success looking at the number of stands I have seen .’

After the official opening the deputy ambassador, Mr Wiarda and other dignitaries visited the 30 plus different stands of companies showcasing their products of which a number of GNBCC Members.

You can still visit the Fruit & Vegetable Fair until tomorrow.
