Maxim Nyansa sponsored  Cocktail

Last Thursday we held a successful cocktail sponsored by our Member Maxim Nyansa - a foundation established in Ghana in 2016 which is raising funds and mobilizing volunteers to train underprivileged young Africans. They also introduced their Dutch partner: Climbing the Right Tree – they are committed to putting young Africans in control of their own future and to that of their region or country.  This foundation seizes the opportunities offered by digitalization and make them into reality.

Since their inception, Climbing the Right Tree and its African partners have equipped more than 80 schools with computer labs, thus reaching more than 30,000 pupils and students from a less fortunate background.  They came with a group of 18 people from The Netherlands to the cocktail . They are on a partner trip in Ghana with mostly Dutch IT companies which have been partnering and  assisting Climbing The Right Tree Foundation.

In total we had 50+ people attending the cocktail which was opened by our MC and colleague Barnabas Apom.  He welcomed the sponsors and introduced GNBCC’s GM Tjalling Wiarda. He spoke about the fact that GNBCC is now part of NLinBusiness Hub . In this capacity GNBCC is now connected to the NLinBusiness Hubs in Kenya, Dubai, China etc.  which can be beneficial for GNBCC Members who want to do business in those countries because you can get help and information on doiing business in those countries. Furthermore, he announced our annual  joint cocktail event with the South African Ghana Chamber and the Ghana Belgian Chamber on Friday the 25th of October at Fitzgerald’s, the annual Entrepreneur of the Year event on Thursday the 14th of November as well as our annual Tema Drinks on Thursday the 21st of November.

After Tjalling spoke, Barnabas invited the co-founder of Maxim Nyansa Diana van der Stelt who also gave a brief speech about Maxim Nyansa and the good work they do in Ghana – they are committed to prepare young African IT graduates for the job market through a minimum of 18 weeks-intensive boot camp at a training centre in each country. The program is highly practical and is executed by experienced IT professionals who are currently working in the ICT market as specialists.

After her speech Barnabas explained that  Climbing The Right Tree is an African saying which means: “Anyone who is striving towards a worthwhile goal will get a lot of support” and invited Klaas Brongers , President of Climbing The Right Tree to say a few words. In his speech he stated they have taught the students  not only an IT curriculum, but also 21st century (soft) skills to prepare them for the labour market and offer them perspectives. As a result, most of the young IT trainees they have trained have since found employment in IT or started their own business.

After the speeches, the networking continued with a lot food and drinks for the rest of the evening.

Tjalling.
